 |
Jandía is a peninsula that covers the entire southwestern part of the Fuerteventura Island. This mountainous peninsula is under the municipality of Pájara. Compared to other areas of the Canary Islands, the peninsula has less vegetation. However, there is an abundance of plants and palm trees.
The whole area of the Jandía Península is a nature reserve, which is bordered by a wide stretch of white-sanded beaches. This península is a very important ecological zone, where various habitats live and nestle. It has been officially categorized as a Site of Scientific Interest.
The Jandía Península is home to Fuerteventura s highest mountain, Picola de la Zarza or Pico de Jandía, which rises to a height of 807 meters.
The Punta de Jandía is the southwest point of the Península. The Playa Jandía is a tourist spot and a popular football team.
Located at the south central is the village Morro Jable, while the northern part is where the narrowest part of the island and the five-kilometer isthmus called Istmo de la Pared are found.
It includes two exceptional tourist beach resorts - the Costa Calma and Morro Jable.
