Tuineje
This quiet, small town has a very interesting history. In 1740, roughly forty brave farmers armed themselves with five muskets to battle against 50 English pirates, which were armed with guns and cannons. The battle took place at the Montaña de Tamacite . Surprisingly, the natives of Tuineje , even with their lack of weapons, won this memorable battle. During this day, thirty of the Englishmen and five locals of Fuerteventura , known as the Majoreros, were killed. The cannons used by the pirates are still preserved in the Betancuria Museum until this day.

Morro Jable
Although this site was once a little fishing village, Morro Jable village has developed into one of Fuerteventura s famous holiday resorts. Before 1982, the roads leading to Morro Jable were made up of rough sand tracks. It was only until the late eighties that the main road was completed, which led to the progress of tourism. Today, it is packed with various shops, restaurants and bars yet still retain its Canarian authenticity and old-town charm.
